A sculpture of the late Fred Rogers was unveiled today on the North Shore. The ceremony took place in an area dubbed the "Tribute To Children"
The dedication took place at the North Shore Riverfront Park this morning.
The bronze statue was created by sculptor Robert Berks with assistance of the local architectural firm of Astorino. Berks also created statues of late Pittsburgh mayor Richard S. Calliguiri as well as Albert Einstein (which is located in Washingitn D.C.)
The statue, which faces downtown, depicts a seated Fred Rogers changing into his tennis shoes - a familiar scene familiar from his long-running children's show, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
The statue is 10 feet tall and weighs more than 7,000 pounds.
