Health Department runs out of seasonal flu vaccine

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Allegheny County Health Department has closed its flu clinic after running out of the first 1,500 doses of the seasonal flu vaccine it received last month.

The county opened its seasonal flu clinic Oct. 19 and ran out of doses on Tuesday.

Spokesman Guillermo Cole says the county will reopen its clinic when it gets more doses from its supplier, Sanofi-Pasteur.

Cole says the county didn't get its full order from the supplier. A company spokesman says it fell behind in producing the seasonal flu vaccine because of demand for the swine flu vaccine that it also makes.

The county charges $25 for the seasonal flu vaccine, although it is free to those with Medicare Part B.
