An ironworkers' pension fund is suing aluminum maker Alcoa Inc. and its board of directors. The lawsuit filed in federal court in Pittsburgh alleges a scheme to bribe officials in the Persian Gulf country of Bahrain.
The Hawaii Structural Ironworkers Pension Trust Fund is the plaintiff.
Alcoa spokesman Kevin Lowery says the company is cooperating with Justice Department investigators looking into the bribery claims. But he says the company hasn't seen any instances of wrongdoing by its employees. |
