Larry Richert
|
|
 The host of the KDKA Morning News with Larry Richert since 2001, Larry Richert is Pittsburgh’s master Master of Ceremonies and an ambassador for Pittsburgh. Born in Millvale and raised in McCandless Township, Richert graduated from North Allegheny High School and Clarion University. Larry and his wife Cindi have three children. Larry also serves as the voice of NFL Films/Steelers Highlights and is active in dozens of charities.
Larry was among the first to give a public broadcast forum to pre-teen Christina Aguilara, who has since become an international superstar vocalist. You can see the entire episode by searching for "Larry Richert" on Youtube.com.

John Shumway

 John Shumway joined NewsRadio 1020 KDKA in 2004 as co-host of The KDKA Morning News with Larry Richert. John began his broadcasting career as a disc jockey for WLAP Radio in Lexington, Kentucky, while he was in college and later moved into the newsroom. John has been recognized throughout his broadcasting career with regional, state, and national awards. He resides in the Pittsburgh area with his wife, Sonya, and their two children. In his spare time, John enjoys golf, running, hiking, camping and singing in his church choir.

Shelley Duffy

Shelley Duffy grew up in Butler and graduated from the University of Dayton. She was formerly WBZZ News Director before joining KDKA in 2004. Shelley has received multiple A.I.R. Awards, most recently for her weekly series Duffy’s Dossier and also received a 2006 AP Award for Duffy's Dossier. She is the mother of two daughters and lives in Mt Lebanon.

Nick Kratsas

Nick Kratsas is a homegrown Pittsburgher. He started at KDKA in 2004 as a news intern while studying at the University of Pittsburgh, and joined the KDKA production staff after graduating. Prior to KDKA, Nick worked as online editor at "The Pitt News" and hosted a current events talk show on 92.1 WPTS. He currently lives in Mt Lebanon.

Bill Rehkopf

Bill Rehkopf joined The KDKA Morning News at the begining of 2008. A Murrysville native, Bill was news director and morning news anchor at WPOC-FM in Baltimore. Prior to Baltimore, Rehkopf was news director at WARM-AM in Scranton and morning anchor at WHP-AM in Harrisburg. He led news departments at stations in Williamsport (WRAK-AM and WKSB-FM), Clarion (WWCH-AM and WCCR-FM), Punxsutawney (WPXZ-FM and WECZ-AM) and Brookville (WMKX-FM).

Barbara Boylan

Barbara Boylan is a native Ohioan. She was raised in Shelby and graduated from Bowling Green State University. She worked at radio and television stations in Ohio and western New York before arriving in Pittsburgh in January, 1978. Barbara has been a reporter and anchor for NewsRadio 1020 KDKA since July, 1981. She is married and lives in Pittsburgh.

Kate is a native Pittsburgher and graduated from Point Park University in 2002 with a degree in Journalism. She began her career at KDKA as a producer and came to the newsroom in 2005. She is single and has no children.

Rob Milford

Rob Milford joins KDKA after a tour with Fox News Radio covering five hurricanes in 2005 (Cindy, Dennis, Katrina, Rita and Wilma) and six weeks in Iraq in November-December of 2005 to cover the election.
That was his second tour in the war zone. In 2003, Milford was embedded with the Marines 2nd Tank Battalion, the spearhead of the U.S. invasion, and filed the first report from Iraq, giving CBS News a 15 minute "beat" as the liberation began. He stayed with the unit all the way to Baghdad, covering the firefights and ambushes, seizing the first bridge across the Tigris river and coming under enemy fire almost every day.
Prior to that, he was the senior reporter at CBS-owned KRLD-Dallas, where he handled assignments for CBS Radio, covering more hurricanes and regional stories across the southwest. His other station stops include KNX-FM Los Angeles, KTRH-Houston, WIOD-Miami and KWK-St. Louis. He has twice flown with the Air Force "Hurricane Hunters", most recently into Hurricane Ivan.
He has received awards from The Dallas Press Club, State Associated Press Broadcasters and Sigma Delta Chi for both his anchoring and reporting work, and was part of the CBS News Radio team that won the RTNDA's Murrow Award for their coverage of the War in Iraq.

Jeff Hathhorn

Jeff grew up in Sharpsville (Mercer County) and has a BA in Journalism from Ohio State. Jeff’s career started as a sophomore in college working at WTVN Radio in Columbus, after graduation Hathhorn worked for WTVN and WCMH-TV before moving back home and joining NewsRadio 1020 KDKA in 1997. Jeff’s won three straight AP Awards for Best Sportscast in Pennsylvania, along with A.I.R. Awards for Best Sports Reporter and Best Weekend Show (IC Light Sports Saturday). Jeff is married with a daughter and most enjoys a round of golf with his father.
