Where In the World is Lyndon?

Londoner Lyndon Jennings is a big Steelers fan, and he visits Pittsburgh every so often to take in a home game. He and his girlfriend Liz are now on a world tour that includes Vietnam, China, Japan, Austalia, and many other exotic locales. Their only US visit was Pittsburgh for a Baltimore Ravens game- and of course, a visit to KDKA Radio!

On January 29, 2008, Lyndon and Liz checked in from Thailand. Below is their correspondence.

Hi guys,

We're now well into our journey through Thailand and so many things are different from what we've been used to back home and in Australia and America.  We started out in Bangkok, where we stayed in a northern suburb just outside the city centre and could take the ferry into town.  On the way in one day, we spotted a couple of monks in quiet contemplation by the river bank - we thought it made for a great picture although we were glad we weren't staying in the housing opposite!  We saw a lot of brilliant things in the city including lots of striking temples - the one in the picture is Wat Phra Kaew - and people selling all sorts on every street corner - and often in the streets themselves!

Believe it or not, we saw a guy wearing a Roethlisberger shirt in one of the bars in town, which inspired us to fly the flag in one of the main strips - Khao San Road.

Next up are some islands in the south of the country and a trip to the orphanage that Liz worked in.  And we're determined to find ourselves a sports bar for the big game on Sunday!

Here is Lyndon's first correspondence from Australia in December
.

Lyndon & Liz reporting in from Australia, where we've spent a month in a campervan travelling the east coast - from Brisbane, up to Cairns in the north and then all the way down to Melbourne where we've just arrived in time for Christmas with Liz's dad and stepmum - 7000km (about 435 miles) later!

We've seen some great things along the way - stunning rainforests, beautiful beaches and loads of unusual wildlife including a loggerhead turtle coming ashore to lay eggs and in a Koala hospital - some pictures hopefully attached. But of course most importantly we got to Sydney and showed some Steelers pride outside the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

On the way down to Melbourne on Sunday, we chanced upon a creek by the roadside that just had to be photographed - despite the rather unusual 'tropical' weather!

Hope you're all well and will check in soon - perhaps if we can find some Steelers afficionados here in a sports bar in town, we can let you know!

Lyndon & Liz
