Clinton says she misspoke

PITTSBURGH, March 25, 2008 – Hillary Clinton says she misspoke last week when she said she dodged sniper fire during a goodwill trip to Bosnia in March 1996 while she was first lady. The Democratic Presidential candidate clarified her remarks in an interview this morning with KDKA Morning News host Larry Richert.

“I have written about this and described in many different settings and I did misspeak the other day,” the Senator said during the live 10-minute interview, the first broadcast interview she’s given to Pittsburgh media in advance of Pennsylvania’s April 22 primary election. “This has been a very long campaign.

“The military took great care of us. They were worried about taking a first lady to a war zone and took some extra precautions. Last week for the first time in 12 years or so, I misspoke.”

Mrs. Clinton told Richert she does not believe the error will affect her credibility.

She talked with NewsRadio 1020 KDKA between campaign appearances last night in Uniontown and today in Greensburg.
