Matt DelSignore

Matt DelSignore reports for the KDKA Morning and Afternoon News and anchors twice-hourly updates during Pintek Tonight.

Before joining KDKA, Matt was an anchor and reporter at WGY in Albany, NY.  He traveled to New York City to cover Governor Eliot Spitzer’s landslide election in 2006 and reported extensively on the scandal that led to Spitzer’s resignation in 2008, helping the station win recognition from the New York State Broadcasters Association for Outstanding Spot News.  He also contributed to WGY’s coverage of the high-profile murder trial of Christopher Porco, which earned a regional Edward R. Murrow Award.  In 2007, Matt received the Art Athens Award for Individual Excellence from the Associated Press.

At Syracuse’s WSYR, Matt helped the station secure a regional Murrow Award for Overall Excellence, as well as individual recognition for his in-depth reports on the plight of the homeless.  His five-part series on juvenile sex abuse earned a citation from the Associated Press.  In 2005, Matt spent a week on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, chronicling the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina and the efforts of a local church group to help rebuild the region.  He also anchored morning news updates on sister station WYYY.

Matt began his news career in his hometown of Watertown, NY, starting as an anchor and reporter at WTNY and later adding videojournalist duties at WWNY-TV.  He covered a wide range of topics – from Fort Drum, home of the most-deployed division in the Army, to Funny Cide, the Kentucky Derby-winning gelding with local owners.  His feature reporting won two awards from the New York State Broadcasters Association.

A graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Matt is a member of the WJPZ Alumni Association and the WJPZ Board of Directors.
