Mike Pintek

Mike Pintek loves Pittsburgh, but being a “D” student in geography, he still can’t find his way around without a GPS. Mike’s broadcasting career began really early, much to the annoyance of his family! As a kid, he would record himself over and over, pretending to anchor NASA rocket launches. Mike was a rock DJ in college -- but says he wasn’t very good at it, so he turned to news and became news director at a Harrisburg radio station. While in Harrisburg, he broke the story of the Three Mile Island nuclear accident by managing to get a call through to a reactor control room tech who told him, “I can’t talk now — we’ve got a problem!” No kidding!

Later he anchored and reported for a Washington, D.C., station. (Favorite story: Trying to interview very stoned and incoherent “Legalize Marijuana” protestors outside the Reagan White House.) Ultimately, he landed here at his favorite station, KDKA. Mike also has been a TV host and “Newsbreak” anchor, as well as a talk host on CBS Radio stations in St. Louis and Baltimore.

Mike appeared as a TV reporter in the film “Dead and Alive,” starring Tony Danza, Samuel L. Jackson and Ted Levine.

During a couple of trips to the Middle East for live broadcasts on KDKA, Mike dodged softball sized rocks thrown by Hezbollah on the Israeli border with Lebanon, got to see the pyramids in Egypt and climbed Mt. Sinai in pitch-black darkness to see the sunrise.

Mike currently resides in an undisclosed location (just like Dick Cheney) with his black cat, Halle. Hear him weeknights 6-10 on NewsRadio 1020 KDKA!
